You will drive from Kunming, Yunnan's capital to the province's subtropical south, a region called Xishuangbanna (or "12 Thousand Rice Fields"). From there, you will cross the border into northern Laos and then enter Vietnam in Dien Bien Phu, where the cultures and traditions of many different people blend into one another and yet emerge as distinctive features.

The last stretch of your journey takes you along back roads to Mai Chau, a charming village of markets and rice fields as picturesque as in your imagination.
